Duncan Dunbar 1857, Blackwall Frigate, 1,374 tons
The Blackwall frigate was the direct descendant of the old East Indiaman but steamlined hull and improved sail plan. These crack passenger sailing ships maintained communication with India and Australia for forty years (1840-1880) untill they, in their turn, were driven from the sea by the advent of the steamship.
