Hon. East India Company´s Ship WARLEY, 1796, 1,498 tons
Half merchantman, half man-of-war, the East Indiaman formed the link in the chain of transport between England and India for nearly two and a half centuries. "Warley" fought in a action with the French Amiral Linnois in the Straits of Malacca whereby the capture of a fleet of sixteen fully-laden East Indiamen worth £6,000,000 was averted.
